Phyllis A. (Borrero) Errico, age 89, beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Errico died peacefully on February 3, 2025 surrounded by her five children.
She was born on December 11, 1935 and grew up in Arlington. After graduating from Arlington High School, she attended Chandler School for Women in Boston and worked as the secretary for the Chemistry Department of Harvard University upon graduation.
Phyllis met her husband at a BU Dance in Kenmore Square. They married in 1959 and moved to Billerica in 1960 where they raised their five children. Phyllis and Joe loved to dance and would enjoy dancing together for more than 60 years. After her children were older, she worked as an executive assistant at The Mitre Corporation for many years.
Phyllis was an avid reader and valued higher education. She was very proud to achieve her goal of having all her children and grandchildren graduate from college. She was also a talented artist. Her oil paintings are cherished by her family and friends.
She loved spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved the ocean and her garden. She loved driving with her husband, Joe to spend time in parks and other special places. Their favorite was Great Island Common in Newcastle, NH. She was most happy when her family celebrated together.
Phyllis is survived by five children, AnnMarie Errico and Simon Dixon of North Andover, David Errico and Debbie Callery of Lowell, Joanne Ingle and Douglas LaChapelle of Simsbury, CT, Joseph Errico and Mildre’ of Portsmouth, NH and Laura Dames and Mark of Atlanta, GA. She very much loved her seven grandchildren Jessica, Samuel, Adam, Jake, Elisa, Cameron and Kurt. She was also the sister of Ellen Townsend, Edward Mouliason, and the late Robert Moulaison.
Phyllis was always independent and a determined advocate for family and friends. She was a vivacious person and her smile and laugh were contagious. She was kind and generous and a beloved friend to so many. She was much loved and will be greatly missed.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, Feb 7, at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd, Billerica from 4 – 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, February 8 at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish in St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd. Billerica at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org
