Obituary for Philomena Yeo
Philomena “Phyllis” Yeo, 89, wife of the late Philip Yeo died peacefully at home after a long illness surrounded by her loving family. Phyllis was one of 9 children born in Point La Haye North, St. Mary’s, Newfoundland, Canada, daughter of the late Frank St. Croix and Monica (Williams) St. Croix. Phyllis moved to the United States in 1954 where she met her late husband, Philip who was from Torbay, Newfoundland. Phyllis and Philip lived in Winthrop and then later moved to Billerica in 1966 to raise their family.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Deborah Kleponis and her husband Richard of Reading, Richard Yeo of Billerica, John Yeo and his wife Nancy of Billerica and Lisa teDuits and her husband Christopher of Groton. Phyllis was predeceased by her youngest son, Philip Yeo. Phyllis is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Phyllis worked at BASF in Bedford for 25 years and retired in the early 1990s and later enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. Phyllis loved traveling with friends on cruises to the Caribbean and having big family dinners where she would enjoy preparing the desserts days ahead to impress all of her guests.
Phyllis remained in Billerica for the last 56 years and had many friends and was always willing to help anyone in need. We will miss her smile, kindness, razor sharp sense of humor and of course, her amazing baked goods.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 11, at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church located at 466 Boston Road, Billerica at 10 a.m. Burial services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Phyllis Yeo’s name to St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish, One Grace Ave., Billerica, MA 01821.
