Obituary for Peter J. Martin, Sr.
BILLERICA—Peter J. Martin, Sr. age 73, beloved husband of the late Carol (Ward) Martin died Sunday.
He was born in Dorchester on December 9, 1944 and raised in Milton. He was the son of the late Harold and Katherine “Kay” (Madigan) Martin. He lived in Canton most of his life before retiring to Billerica 16 years ago.
A local business owner for many years in both Dorchester and Canton, Peter was a lifelong Boston sports fan, had a love for cribbage, fishing and horse racing at Suffolk Downs.
He is survived by his three sons, Peter “PJ” Martin, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Billerica, Richard Martin of Canton, Christopher Martin of Canton; his two daughters, Carol “Kerry” Hughes and her husband Chris of Billerica and Catherine “Katie” Martin-Kelley and her husband Michael of Los Angeles, CA; five grandchildren, Ryan, Jason, Connor, Sean and Braden; his brother Robert “Bobby” Martin and his wife Claire of Duxbury; his sister-in-law Katherine “Kay” (Ward) Finerty of Milton and his brother-in-law John “Jack” Ward of Quincy, as well as many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held Friday, March 16 at SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-7 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Immediately following the visitation, please join us in a celebration of Peter’s life at the Billerica Country Club, 51 Baldwin Road, Billerica. At the request of the family, a private graveside service will be held in Milton. Funeral Director Dean M. Laurendeau.
