Obituary for Peter R. Doherty Jr.
BILLERICA – Peter R. Doherty Jr., age 75, beloved husband of 52 years of Georgia (Canole) Doherty died unexpectedly Wednesday at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington.
He was born in Cambridge, November 22, 1941 a son of the late Peter R. Sr. and Anne (Garrity) Doherty and lived in Arlington prior to moving to Billerica over 50 years ago.
Mr. Doherty served in the US Army and was a graduate of the Wentworth Institute of Technology and Northeastern University.
He was employed as an Engineer for Polaroid Corp. and Zink Technologies and was an avid car buff enjoying NASCAR and driving his 1981 Corvette.
Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Kelly J. Doherty of Winchester; one son Peter R. Doherty III of Quincy and his longtime companion Tracy Boutin and her daughters Lyndsey and Lauren Boutin; one sister, Alice Kirk and her husband Jim of Lexington; one brother Paul Doherty of Danvers and will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother-in-law of the late Nancy Doherty.
DOHERTY – Of Billerica, formerly of Arlington, Jan. 25. Peter R. Doherty Jr. Funeral Saturday Jan. 28, from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 12 noon. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Theresa Church, Billerica at 1 p.m. Visiting hours will be held Friday, Jan. 27, from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
