Obituary for Peter J. Tamis
Billerica – Peter J. Tamis – Age 75, loving husband of Diane K. (Salenga) Tamis died Saturday at the Lahey Hospital in Burlington.
He was born in Boston, January 5, 1940, a son of the late James A. and Kathleen (Bogie) Tamis and lived in Arlington for many years before moving to Billerica 52 years ago. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Tamis was employed as a Salesman for the Lehigh Metal Products Company and American Industrial Products. He was a former Billerica Little League and Pop Warner Coach, a former member of the Billerica Housing Authority and a current Billerica Town Meeting member. He was a member of The Rathamanthus – Ide Chapter of Boston and the Chairman and President of The Costas and Mary Maliotis Charitable Foundation in Brookline.
Besides his wife, Mr. Tamis is survived by his sons, Peter Tamis of Billerica and Dennis Tamis and his wife AnnMarie of Billerica; his daughters, Dawn Melendy and her husband Thomas of Billerica and Tanya Zemetres and her husband Chris of Tewksbury; his brother, Anthony Tamis and his wife Lois of FL; his great aunt, Renee Randazzo of Hyde Park, his six grandchildren, Tiffany and Trevor Melendy, Troy and Talia Tamis and Alexsay and CJ Zemetres; his nieces, Shelley Tamis of NH and Wendy Tamis of Marblehead and his nephew, James Tamis of Las Vegas, NV.
TAMIS – Of Billerica, June 20, Peter J. Tamis, Funeral Thursday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 8 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
