Paul J. McMahon - age 89, beloved husband of Donna L. (Morrone) McMahon died peacefully Wednesday, February 12, at CareOne at Concord with his family by his side.
Paul was born in Boston, April 18, 1935, son of the late Patrick J. and Marcella T. (Doherty) McMahon and grew up in Everett.
He raised a family in Melrose with the late Eleanor (Hurley) McMahon and their six children, Paul McMahon Jr. of Wilmington, the late Theresa McMahon, Brenda Maguire of Melrose, Kathy Murphy of Melrose, Sheila Clapp of Stoneham, and Ellen Elwell of Melrose. He retired from New England Telephone as a District Manager in 1990. He and his wife, Donna, were married in 2006 and resided in Billerica. He is survived by his stepchildren, Lisa Lindsay of Brookline, NH, Carrie Kepnes of Hollis, NH, Christina Schumacher of Billerica, and the late Michael Jackson. Papa Paul is further survived by 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 19 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Paul's name to the National Down Syndrome Society. www.ndss.org
