Paul Douglas Beattie, 92, of North Billerica, MA passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025. A devoted father, grandfather, “Couzunk”, and friend, he lived life with a great sense of humor, a contagious laugh, and an abundant appreciation for his family.
Born in Lying-In Hospital in Providence, RI on October 30, 1932, Paul was an athlete -- like his father -- during his high school years. He joined the US Navy in 1950 and served as a Yeoman, and after three years he was honorably discharged. From 1950 until the early 1980’s he worked in corporate America. When he met his wife, Grace, they decided that being self-employed was the lifestyle that best suited them. In the many happy years that they spent together, they traveled extensively, made wonderful and lasting memories, made numerous friends and acquaintances, and always cherished their time with family.
Whether it was singing a favorite melody with his wonderful voice, taking the moment to bring good humor, or sharing memories about his family and travels, Paul embraced every moment life gave him.
Paul leaves behind a legacy of love, good humor, and loyalty. Paul is preceded in death by his loving wife, Grace Osterhout Beattie, his parents John and Marion Beattie, and his sister, Barbara Brown. He is survived by his son, Christopher Beattie of Bennett, CO, his daughter, Rachael Louko of Burlington, VT, his nephew, Douglas Brown of Falmouth, MA, and his cousins, Sandra Dunlap of Reading, MA, Tracey Butterworth of Stoneham, MA, Laurie Ingersoll of Wakefield, MA, and Michael Dunlap of Fredericksburg, VA.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held in private by his family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
