Obituary for Patrick A. O'Donnell
BILLERICA – Patrick A. O’Donnell, age 55, beloved husband of Col. (Ret.) Teresa (Hohol) O’Donnell, USAF, and loving father of Kelly and Tracy O’Donnell, died unexpectedly Saturday at their home in Billerica. Born on December 5, 1958, he was the son of Albert R. O’Donnell and late Harryette (Ridings) O’Donnell of Olympia, WA. He graduated from North Thurston High School, Lacey, WA and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA with a B.S degree in Computer Science and M.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1983, before moving to Billerica in 1986. Mr. O’Donnell was a Senior Development Scientist for Ascent Technology in Cambridge for 20 years, and prior to that a Research Engineer with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. He served as an educational Ambassador with People-to-People International and co-authored multiple publications and a robotics book published by MIT Press. Patrick was an active member Saint Theresa of Lisieux Parish in Billerica where he was a music minister, cantor, (former) choir director, and American Cancer Society Relay for Life team member. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Wren Council, a performer with the North Regional Theatre Workshop in Methuen, an American Taekwondo Association 1st Degree Black Belt and a National Rifle Association Sharpshooter Bar 9. Besides his wife and father, Mr. O’Donnell is survived by two daughters, Kelly M. and Tracy Alana Jacquelyn O’Donnell both of Billerica; one brother, Michael R. O’Donnell and sister-in-law Diane O’Donnell of Tumwater, WA, his nephew Jon O’Donnell of Oregon and his sister-in-law Kathy Hohol of Bourne. Visiting hours will be held Friday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 – 8 p.m. Funeral Saturday from the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held in Saint Theresa of Lisieux Parish, Billerica at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends invited and welcomed. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Patrick A. O’Donnell Children’s Trust, c/o Teresa H. O’Donnell, Trustee, 16 Margaret Lane, Billerica, MA 01821. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica
