Obituary for Norman T. Donchin
BILLERICA – Norman T. Donchin, age 74, beloved husband of Sandra Lee (Zappulla) Donchin died Saturday at their home with his family by his side.
He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, November 5, 1944 a son of the late Herman and Lily (Stambovsky) and has been a Billerica resident since 1974.
Mr. Donchin earned his BSME from the Stevens Institute in Hoboken, NJ in 1965 followed by his MBA from Northeastern University in Boston in 1973. He worked as an Aeronautical engineer for United Technologies Corp form 1965-68, as a Systems Engineer for GE from 1968-77 and then in Sale and Marketing of technical, software and publishing products from 1977-98 after which he tutored student of all ages in math, science and English.
In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his family as well as antiquing, trains, politics and just sitting by the river feeding ducks.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Rachel Traub and her husband Michael of Nashua and Aaron Donchin and his wife Sri Gayathri Velayutham of Petaling Jaya, Malaysia; his grandchildren, Joshua and Alex Traub; his sister, Gertrude Chityat and her husband Ezra; his nephew George Chityat and his wife Adi and their children, Danielle, Hailey and Guy as well as his brother in law James Zappulla and his niece Shayln Zappulla.

A Celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, January 8, at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. with prayers to be held at 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or to the charity of one’s choice.
