Obituary for Nina G. Stimpson
Nina G. (Bennett) Stimpson, age 88, beloved wife of the late William J. Stimpson Sr. passed away comfortably Wednesday at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington after a brief illness.
She was born in Cambridge, MA August 26, 1932, a daughter of the late Roy and Leah (Butt) Bennett, and lived in Somerville before moving to Billerica in 1961.
"Nana Nina" was a beautiful person inside and out, those that were blessed enough to know her to remember her warm, loving, and contagious laugh. Nana Nina was not only a grandmother to her six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, but a Nana to everyone. She'd welcome everyone with a warm plate and big hug, it didn't matter who you were or where you from, a Nana to the neighborhood. Nina approached life with warmth and light-loving her Boston sports and casino trips with her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Lowell and her husband Jay of Warren, and Jennifer Stimpson of Billerica; two sons, William Stimpson Jr. of Billerica and David and his wife Lori Stimpson of Mims, FL; two sisters, Barbara Devereaux of Burlington and Dorothy Bertrand of Litchfield, NH; one brother Herbert Bennett of Franklin, NH as well as six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Maud Gilgunn, Mildred Ortolani, and brother of the late John, Walter, and William Bennett.
Nana Nina was a gift to all of us in the world, and will forever be remembered by the countless lives she touched, a true saint in every aspect of the word. Time to share a few laughs with the big man himself, forever and always in our hearts, love ya, Nan!
A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, January 30, at the Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Billerica Community Pantry, P.O. Box 285, Billerica, MA 01821.
