Nicole Romano Egan – Age 52, beloved wife of Paul A. Egan died Friday, October 14 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston surrounded by her family.
She was born in Brookline, April 10, 1970, a daughter of the late Louis Romano Jr. and Evelyn C. (Angelli) Romano and was raised in Billerica. Her deep sense of family values always kept her close to her family and her roots, living in various towns nearby until she and her husband settled in Ayer and created a life with Mikey, the four legged love of her life.
A ‘93 graduate of Merrimack College, Nicole went on to obtain two Master’s degrees. Nicole was passionate about education and children. She worked for decades for the City of Lawrence as a teacher, briefly in Lowell, and finally working as an Administrator at the Lawrence Family Development Charter Schools. Once awarded “Teacher of the Year,” her dedication to enriching children’s lives in Lawrence made a great impact on the community.
Besides her loving husband, Nicole is survived by her sister, Suzanne (Romano) Romvos and her husband Marc of Amesbury and her brother, Louis Romano III and his wife Suzanne of Burlington.
Nicole’s brilliant mind, generosity, sense of humor, and contagious laugh are only some of her gifts that will remain in the hearts and minds of all who were lucky enough to know her, and will be especially missed by her nieces and nephews; Olivia Romvos, Samantha and Emily Romano, Jon Cox, Cindy Porter, Susan Flower and Matt Manley, as well as great nieces and nephew; John Ware, Delaney Binam, Abby Ware, and Annie Porter.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 3-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org The family has asked, if you do send flowers, please omit lilies.
