
Nancy “Rita” Corrao – Age 91, died Sunday after a lengthy illness at her nephew’s home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Everett, November 12, 1929, a daughter of the late Antonio and Nunzia (Ciulla) Corrao and was raised in the North end of Boston. She later lived in Wakefield and Naples, FL and has lived in Billerica for the past 20 years. She graduated in 1947 from Girls High School in Boston.
Rita was employed as an Underwriter for John Hancock Insurance Company for 46 years prior to her retirement. She was a devout Catholic and spent many years as a volunteer with Catholic Charities, helping the sick and indigent in Florida. She enjoyed that and was very proud of her work. She also enjoyed crocheting.
She is survived by her nephew, Robert Martini and his wife Janet of Billerica; her nieces, Debra Roberto and her husband Donald of Stoneham, Robin Nye and her late husband Jerry of Charlestown and Maria Perry and her husband Thomas of Wakefield and her many nieces nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Thursday at St. Michael Cemetery, 227 Walk Hill St., Boston at 12 Noon. Memorial contributions may be made in Rita’s name to Catholic Charities, www.ccab.org
