Obituary for Nancy I. Shannon
Nancy I. (Mafera) Shannon, age 83, passed away Thursday at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born in Medford, December 29, 1937 daughter of the late Americo and Irene (Colton) Mafera and lived Derry, NH before moving to Billerica in 1963.
Nancy worked in the Research and Development department at Analog Devices for over 25 years and was an active member of the Billerica Senior Center where she enjoyed bowling and cribbage. She was an avid golfer and she loved traveling with family and friends who will truly miss her contagious laugh. In recent years, Nancy enjoyed spending time in Maine at Sebago Lake with her children and grandchildren.
Nancy is survived and deeply missed by her children: Irene “Renie” Shannon of North Oxford, MA, William F. Shannon Jr, Brian Shannon and his partner Kathleen Surette, Gary Shannon all of Billerica, four grandchildren: Holly Helmer and her husband Hugo III, Brian and Michael Shannon and Jacki Brouillette and her husband Kenny. Her four great grandchildren: Hugo IV, Harleigh, Hawkin and Parker. Her two brothers William Mafera and his wife Rachel of Derry, NH and Donald Mafera and his wife Anne of Hookset, NH., her companion Henry Wojick of Lowell, MA. As well as nieces, nephews and many friends. Nancy is predeceased by former husband William F Shannon of Dracut, MA and her brother Robert Mafera of Quincy, MA
SHANNON – Of Billerica, Nancy I. (Mafera) Shannon. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. followed by a Graveside Service at the Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Billerica Senior Center, 25 Concord Rd., Billerica MA 01821.
