Muriel R. Henderson – age 88, died Thursday, July 18 at the Lahey Hospital with her family at her side.
She was born in Lynn, July 3, 1936, the daughter of the late Charles H. and Eleanor M. (Andrews) Randall and lived in Andover and Methuen before moving to Billerica in 2001.
After studying at NECC and Merrimack College, Muriel worked at Holy Family Hospital, where she spent 38 years helping others and welcoming children into this world as a Nurse in the Emergency Room and Maternity Ward.
A talented artist, Muriel also went to Mass Art, and was a lifetime member of Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts, and enjoyed expressing her love for art with her grandchildren. An avid historian and the unofficial family genealogist, she loved going to the Scottish Highland games at Loon Mountain every year with her family. Muriel also loved traveling, and would rave about her trips to Alaska and the Scotland Highlands.
She is survived by her daughter, Kristen Morrill and her husband Steve of Nashua, NH; her sons, Tom Henderson and his wife Mary of Longs, SC, Michael Henderson and Austin Henderson both of Billerica; her grandchildren, Jessica, Ty, Madeline, Charlotte, Izabella, Ainsley and Delyla. She was the former wife of Lowell Henderson of Essex and former mother-in-law of Mark Cherone of Billerica.
A Celebration of Muriel’s Life will be held August 18th at T.J. Callahan’s Restaurant, 1475 Main St., Tewksbury from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
