Obituary for Mildred E. Perry
BURLINGTON – Mildred E. (Stone) Perry, age 89, beloved wife of the late Walter Perry, died Thursday at Woodbriar of Wilmington. She was born in Winchendon, MA September 25, 1924, the daughter of the late Arthur H. and Olive V. (Wright) Stone and was a longtime Burlington resident. Mrs. Perry graduated from Fitchburg State Teachers College in 1946. While her children were young, she was a substitute teacher for the Town of Burlington for many years and then a vision-and-hearing technician in the Burlington schools until mid-2003. In the 1950s and 1960s, she was a Deaconess for the United Church of Christ in Burlington and active in both the Cub Scouts and Brownies for several years while her children were young. She is survived by twin daughters, Lynne Perry of Dracut and Susan Perry of Anchorage, AK; one son, Wayne Perry of Burlington; one sister, Ruth Brissette of Gardner, MA; one brother, Roy Stone and his wife Nancy of Jaffrey, NH; one granddaughter, Mallory Perry Rice of Jamaica Plain, MA, and Anchorage, AK; nieces, Gayle Bosworth and Lorie Butler Hallquist; nephew, Steven Stone; and her very special cat, Salem. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, William Rice of Anchorage, AK. PERRY – Of Burlington, Sept. 11. Mildred E. (Stone) Perry. Visiting hours will be held Sunday at the SWEEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 1 – 4 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. All other services will be held privately and at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assn., 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 or to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
