Michael J. Guiliani Sr., age 88, beloved husband of the late Victoria J. (Papazian) Guiliani, whom he married Sept. 23, 1961 died Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center after a period of declining health.
He was born in Somerville, Nov. 2, 1937 a son of the late Michael and Dorothy (Woodman) Guiliani.
Michael joined the Navy at 17 and served from 1955 – 1967 before transitioning to the Air Force Reserves where he went on to a 30-year career as a Civil Engineer retiring as a SMSGT. After retirement, he spent many years volunteering bagging groceries at the commissary at Hanscom Air Base, Bedford, MA. He loved going for coffee and spending time with fellow military retirees.
He was employed by the Town of Arlington in the DPW as a heavy equipment operator and always worked more than one job always wanting to be great provider for his family.
Michael has been a member of the Billerica Rod and Gun Club since 1966 receiving a lifetime membership in 2024. In his spare time, he loved to go camping beginning with a tent trailer and eventually moving up to a 5th wheel camper spending a few winters in Florida and traveling up and down the east coast as well as parts of the Midwest.
He was an avid fan of the TV show MASH as well as any and all war/military movies.
He is survived by his four children, Joyce MacMillan of Chester, NH, Michael Guiliani Jr. and his wife Denise of Lunenburg, Christine Marsden of Litchfield and Andrea Lavender and her husband Dennis of Dracut; one sister Claudia Lyons and her husband Dan of North Attleboro; his grandchildren, Colin MacMillan and his fiancée Elyse, Michael Guiliani III and his wife Jennifer, Emily Roberts and her husband Cody, Joshua Lavender, Stephanie Marsden, Andrew Lavender, Matthew Lavender, Michelle Durkee and James Barker as well as his great-grandchildren, Connor MacMillan, Austin Guiliani, Ryder Roberts, June Guiliani, Savanah Roberts, Rory Roberts, William Durkee, Brielle Durkee, Aurelia Barker, James Barker and Richard Barker; he was the brother of the late Paul Guiliani and father-in-law of the late James Barker and James Marsden.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Wednesday March 25, 2026 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 11 – 12:30 followed by a graveside service at Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
