Obituary for Michael C. Clery Sr.
BILLERICA - Michael C. Clery, Sr. 89, beloved husband of Della (Newell) Clery of Billerica passed away on July 11, 2013 after a brief battle with Alzheimer’s. Mike was born in Boston on October 3, 1923. He was raised in E. Boston before moving to Somerville where he started his family. Michael and Della were married on December 17, 1944 and would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year. In 1950 Mike moved his family to Billerica where he has resided for the past 63 years. Mike was employed by General Electric for many years before starting his own business building homes in Billerica, MA. Additionally, Mike had been enlisted in both the U.S. Army and the Merchant Marines, and was a long time member of the Masonic Order and the Aleppo Temple Shrine. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, camping, hunting, and being a handyman willing to help anyone. Besides his loving wife, three children also survive Michael: Michael Jr. and his wife, Theresa, of Billerica; Linda Hotchkiss and her husband, Douglass, of NJ; and Barbara Pattullo of NH. Additionally, Michael leaves behind eight grandchildren: Lori (Clery) Martel and her husband Rick; Jeffrey Hotchkiss and his wife Tracey; Michael Clery III; Donald Pattullo and his wife Barbara; Steven Clery and his wife Kerry; Merinda (Pattullo) Salsky and her husband Ben; and Brittany Mazza. Michael was also Great-Grampy to Joshua, Richard III, Caulin and Katherine Martel; Jack and Tyler Hotchkiss; Michael Clery IV; and Addison Clery. He will be greatly missed by them all, but remembered with respect and love. Michael was pre-deceased by his 5 brothers and 2 sisters. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and countless friends. CLERY – Of Billerica, formerly of E. Boston and Somerville, July 11, Michael C. Clery Sr. A Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday, July 14th at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 2 – 4 p.m. with a Masonic service to be held at 3:45 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the hospice service that cared for Michael in his final weeks, The Butterfly Foundation, Inc., 6 Beech St., Framingham, MA 01702.
