Obituary for Michael J. Dempsey
Michael J. Dempsey – Age 69, beloved husband of Suzanne E. (Blades) Dempsey died peacefully at their home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Boston, October 29, 1949, son of the late Arthur J. and Anna (Rooney) Dempsey and was raised in Roslindale before moving to Billerica and most recently to Methuen.
Mike proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 38 years having retired in 2004.
Mike enjoyed his time on and off the golf course, especially in Myrtle Beach. He also enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Mike is best described as a man with a sparkle in his eye with a kind word for everyone.
Besides his wife, Mr. Dempsey is survived by his loving daughters, Jill, of Pennsylvania and Diane, of Reading and his sister, Patricia Dempsey of Westwood. Mike is further survived by sisters and brothers-in-law Bill and Judy Magnan, and Bob and Edie Soley. He was the loving uncle to several nieces and nephews and their families. Mike was preceded in death by his beloved in-laws William and Barbara Blades.

Dempsey, Funeral Wednesday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church, 465 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
