Obituary for Meghan M. Sullivan
Meghan M. Sullivan, age 27, beloved daughter of Edward P. “Ted” and Mary (Wright) Sullivan died unexpectedly Tuesday at the Yale-New Haven Hospital in CT. She was born at Winchester Hospital, January 6, 1988 and has been a lifelong Billerica resident. Meghan attended Billerica Schools and was a 2006 graduate of Billerica Memorial High School, proceeding on to attend Stonehill College. She graduated in 2010 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience. She cherished her work as an Eating Disorder Research Coordinator at Mass General Hospital for two years and then joined AmeriCorps and traveled to Seattle to work with the mentally ill. Upon her return Meghan attended Yale School of Nursing where she earned her RN and was now studying to become a Nurse Practitioner. Meg was interested in finding better access to and better quality care for the mentally ill and substance abusers. She was also committed to providing better education for the public about what it means to be mentally ill in order to lessen the stigma associated with mental illness. She was very passionate about her budding career. In addition, Meg loved cooking, photography, music, dancing, hiking, travel and especially running. She was a proud and responsible 3 season captain of the Billerica girls track team. She completed the Bar Harbor Marathon with her parents and friends along to support her. Meg was the type of person who lived life to the fullest. The motto, “It’s not the destination, it’s the trip” truly embodied Meg’s life with us. She had the gift of making friends, nurturing these friendships, and bringing friends from her different walks of life together. She counts many friends from Billerica, Stonehill, Mass General, AmeriCorps in Seattle, Yale School of Nursing and Forestry. Meg loved to laugh and this included pranks on her sister Kerry, her brother Pat, and many roommates over the years. As her parents, we could not be more proud of the woman Meg became. We are sorry that she did not get to more fully practice her Nursing profession that she worked so hard on. Meg did touch many patients’ lives. We know that our Lord God blessed Meg with these traits and has called her to be in His Heavenly home. In addition to her parents she is survived by her sister and brother, Kerry E. Sullivan and Patrick P. Sullivan both of Billerica; her grandmothers, Rosemarie Wright of Littleton and Barbara P. Sullivan of West Roxbury as well as many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends. Visiting hours will be held Sunday at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 1-4 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday in St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 9a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be at The Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers and to benefit a future Nursing Student, memorial contributions may be made to the Meghan M. Sullivan Scholarship Fund, c/o Billerica Scholarship Foundation, Billerica Treasurers Office, 365 Boston Rd., Billerica, MA 01821 God bless you all and keep Meghan in your thoughts and prayers
