Maureen Dunton, 78, passed away peacefully while on vacation with her beloved family, a setting that reflected the love and togetherness she cherished throughout her life. She would have celebrated her 79th birthday on March 25, 2026, though she was known for jokingly telling everyone she was 30—a reflection of her vibrant spirit and joyful outlook on life.
Maureen was the devoted and loving wife of Edward Dunton, with whom she shared over 60 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered on love, loyalty, and unwavering companionship. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them.
She was a proud and caring mother to Lisa McIntyre and her husband, Robert McIntyre, of Billerica, Massachusetts; Sharon Roberge and her husband, Stephen Roberge, of Gardiner, Maine; and Paul Dunton of Billerica, Massachusetts. Nothing brought her more happiness than her family.
Maureen was also a deeply cherished grandmother to Kara Robak, Kylie and Ryan Dunton, and Ashley and Michael McIntyre. She adored her grandchildren and took immense joy in watching them grow.
She was predeceased by her parents, Milton Farrell and Ethel Louise (Walsh) Farrell, and by her sisters, Sheila Grillakis and Sharon Trainor.
Maureen dedicated 42 years of service to the Town of Billerica, where she held various positions throughout her career. She most recently served as the Administrative Assistant to the Billerica Fire Chief, a role she proudly held for the past 30 years. She was deeply respected for her dedication and commitment to her community.
Maureen was truly one of a kind—kind-hearted, selfless, and full of warmth. She had, as many would say, “not a bad bone in her body.” She touched countless lives with her compassion, generosity, and genuine care for others. To know her was to love her.
She will be remembered for her gentle nature, her sense of humor, and the deep love she gave so freely. Her presence brought comfort and happiness to so many, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Maureen’s family finds peace in knowing she spent her final moments surrounded by those she loved most, in a place of joy and togetherness—just as she would have wanted.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
