MaryEllen Lawler – Age 81, wife of the late Arthur R. Lawler, died peacefully with family by her side Saturday, March 18 at the Lahey Hospital in Burlington.
She was born in Cooperstown, NY, July 2, 1941, a daughter of the late Orrin and Madge (Barrett) Hanor and was raised in Cooperstown, NY before living in Billerica for 50 years and most recently Hollis, NH. MaryEllen was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Lahey Hospital for over 20 years where she then retired and later continued to volunteer her time at the hospital. She was a faithful communicant of St. Theresa Parish in Billerica and was a member of the Women’s Club.
She is survived by her son, Eric Lawler and his wife Michelle of Hollis, NH; her daughter, Cynthia Lawler and her husband Jason Hassey of Walpole and her five grandchildren, Samantha, Andy, Allison, Derek and Ryan.
MaryEllen loved to travel and see the world from cruises to overseas to Disney trips with her family and everything in between, she loved it all. She also loved getting together with her friends for lunches, go to see shows, plays, and to the movies. She had the biggest heart and loved her family and friends immeasurably. She was extremely proud of her son Eric and daughter Cindi every single day and to say she was proud of her five grandchildren is an understatement, she was always so happy to go to their hockey games and dance shows. MaryEllen was immensely loved by her family and will be missed tremendously every day. Her family will continue on in her legacy and make her proud.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, March 23 at St. Theresa Parish, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Her burial will immediately follow at the Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her memory on her behalf.
