Obituary for Mary Louise Gates
ST. AUGUSTINE - Mary Louise Gates, age 85, wife of the late Everett "Boots" Gates died at the Earl B. Harlow Center in Jacksonville, FL.
She was born in Lexington and was a longtime resident of Billerica before moving to Holmes Beach on Anna Maria Island in 1971. After her husband passed away in 1984 she moved to Bradenton, FL where she lived for many years. In 2004, Mary moved to St. Augustine to be close to her daughter and granddaughter. She spent many summers in New England with family and friends, and remained very active working part time as a caregiver and chef into her 70's. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Bradenton and enjoyed gardening, baking and knitting.
She is survived by one son, Robert Gates of Peabody; two daughters, Dorothy Thibodeau of St. Augustine, FL and Nancy Gates of Boston; one sister Evelyn Van Sickle of Nakomas, FL; one brother Archer Ballou of Whitinsville; four grandchildren, Daniel Thibodeau, Laura Archer, Robert and Jeffrey Gates; three great-grandchildren, Samantha Gates, Shelby Archer and Nicole Gates.
GATES - Of St. Augustine, FL formerly of Billerica, March 30, Mary Louise Gates wife of the late Everett "Boots" Gates. A Graveside Service will be held Monday at the Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd. Billerica at 1:30 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
