Obituary for Mary J. Colburn
Mary J. Colburn - Age 58, wife of the late Robert W. Colburn died Monday at her home surrounded by family and friends.
She was born in Lowell, August 13, 1951, the daughter of Edward V. O'Mahony Sr. of Billerica and the late Virginia B. (Smith) O'Mahony. She was raised in Billerica and moved to Carlisle for 30 years before moving back to Billerica last year.
Mary was an avid educator, who never stopped learning. She liked to swim, read, teach and have fun doing it. She was energetic, entertaining, giving and well traveled. Many people often described her as someone that everyone wanted to be around. Her generous heart filled her home with love, fun, family and friends, including an attitude that there was always room for one more.
Mary graduated from the Billerica Memorial High School in 1969 and continued her education at Boston State College and Fitchburg State College, where she earned her C.A.G.S. in Education. She taught within the Billerica Public School System for thirty one years. Always remaining optimistic, she personally strived to bring out the best in each of her students.
Besides her father, Mrs. Colburn is survived by her son, Patrick Colburn and his wife Jeanette of Groton, her daughters, Kelly Domina and her husband Michael and Colleen Casey and her husband Jonathan all of Billerica, her step-son, Randy Colburn and his wife Kheim of Brookline, NH; her brothers, Edward O'Mahony Jr. and his wife Cindee of Billerica and Joseph O'Mahony and his wife Linda of Raymond, NH; her sister, Lynn Keefe and her husband James of Lowell and 3 grandchildren, Andrew Domina, Ian and Tiara Colburn.

Funeral Thursday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 8 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lowell General Cancer Center, 295 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854.
