Obituary for Mary F. Peters
Mary F. (Curtin) Peters – Age 83, wife of the late Francis X. Peters died Dec. 14, in San Diego, CA after a long and brave battle with respiratory illness. She was born in Reading, July 12, 1928, the daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret (Griffiths) Curtin. She attended Reading Memorial High School and graduated as Salutatorian of her high school class. She met her husband Francis, the love of her life and her husband of more that 60 years at a high school football game. They married in 1951 and were lifetime residents of Billerica and Northwood, NH. They spent every summer for nearly 50 years “up the cottage” boating and swimming on Northwood Lake in New Hampshire. At their summer home they entertained numerous friends and family members and created cherished and lasting memories for generations of children. She worked as a Payroll Clerk for the Billerica Treasurer’s Office. Her keen aptitude for math and her success as a student and homemaker followed her into her career path until her retirement in 1987. Her family was her lifetime passion and she instilled in her children and those around her a strong sense of determination and the belief that you could accomplish anything if you set your mind to it. As a homemaker she was a wonderful baker and an impeccable seamstress. She was a gifted artist and her amazing talents can be seen in beautiful pieces she created including numerous watercolors, oil paintings and stencil designs. She took pride in her handmade quilts, stained glass designs and other decorative items which she loved to give to family members and now decorate homes across the country from Maine to California. Mrs. Peters is survived by loving sons, Francis X. Peters Jr. and his wife Barbara and Eric Peters and his wife Eileen of CA; her loving daughters, Mary Mulligan and her husband Len of ME, Kathleen Doctor and her husband Louis of OR and Maureen Ferreira and her husband Andrew of CA; her sister, Pat McElman of Westford; her brother, Arthur Curtin of Billerica; her devoted niece, Karen (Curtin) Johnson of Westford and 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Peters was the mother of the late Charles Peters. PETERS – Mary F. (Curtin) Peters, Dec. 14, Funeral Monday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
