Obituary for Mary F. 'Fran' Ahearn
CHELMSFORD – Mary F. “Fran” (Casey) Ahearn passed away peacefully on Friday, July 27th, 2012 the day of her 33rd wedding anniversary. She is survived by her “knight in shining armor” William G. Ahearn, who was by her side. Mary was born in Lowell on September 18, 1930 the daughter of the late Peter and Frances (O’Grady) Casey and was a lifelong Billerica resident before moving to Chelmsford in 1978. She worked for many years at Hanscom Air Force Base as a Federal Employee. Mrs. Ahearn was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Chelmsford and an avid golfer belonging to the Mt. Pleasant Golf Club and spending winters and golfing in Hilton Head, SC. She loved the Red Sox, but most of all was always there for her family and friends. She was a great mom and will be dearly missed. Besides her husband she is the beloved mother of Paul Travis and his wife Maureen Roberts of Billerica and Brian Travis of Salem, NH, and Cyndi Lowrie and her husband Robert of Gainesville, GA; sister of, Henry Casey of Dracut; proud grandmother of Tara Travis of Lincoln, NE and Travis and Ally Lowrie both of Gainesville, GA, sister-in-law of Thomas Ahearn and his wife Shirley of Indiantown, FL, Dorothy Ayer and her husband Donald of Chelmsford, Ruthanne Fitton and her husband Robert of Chelmsford, Terrance Ahearn of Lowell, MA, Claudia Kovac of Greenvill, PA and Margaret Ahearn of Chelmsford. She was the daughter-in-law of the late Thomas P. and Dorothy Ahearn and sister-in-law of the late David J. Ahearn AHEARN – Of Chelmsford, formerly of Billerica, July 27, Mary F. “Fran” (Casey) Ahearn. Funeral Tuesday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd. at 9:45 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Mary’s Church, 25 North Rd. Chelmsford at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4 – 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Assn., 460 Totten Pond Rd., Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451.
