Mary E. Pelham – age 81, died on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
Born in Somerville on April 13, 1943, Mary was a daughter of the late William E. and Cecilia V. (Green) Blauvelt.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Pelham, who left us after a long illness. Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose love for her family was boundless. She will always be remembered for the warmth, compassion, and care she gave so freely throughout her many years.
Mary’s unwavering dedication to her loved ones and her community was a hallmark of her life. A longtime active member of her church, one of her greatest joys was organizing the annual Feast of the Divine Mercy after Easter Sunday. Her involvement in this beloved tradition brought comfort and a sense of unity to many, and it was a true reflection of the love she shared with others.
Mary is survived by her sisters, Barbara Cavanaugh, Helen Coyne, Nancy Wanders, and Patty McDade, and her brother, William Blauvelt. She is also survived by her children, Thomas Pelham, Susan Colantuoni, and Daniel Pelham; her grandchildren, Joshua Colantuoni, Ashley Colantuoni, Dylan Colantuoni, as well as her great-grandchildren, Kylie Melvin, Franklin Melvin, and Makenzie Melvin. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas Pelham; her siblings, Sylvia Cavanaugh, June Cutter, Margaret Raffa, and James Blauvelt.
Mary’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the center of her world. Her legacy of kindness and selflessness will continue to inspire us all.
Mary’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who supported her during her illness.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Road, Billerica, on Wednesday, February 26 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 27 at 10:00AM at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd, Billerica. All are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will follow at Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Road, Billerica.
