Mary B. Stevens – age 87, wife of the late David P. Stevens, died peacefully Saturday, November 9 at the Blaire House in Tewksbury surrounded by her family.
Mary was born in Hendon, London, May 31, 1937, a daughter of the late James and Hannah (Keating) Cloghessy and was raised in Ireland. At the age of 16 she came to Boston to live with family. It was there that she met and married David. They were stationed in the Philippines for a year with the Air Force, returned, and bought their home in North Billerica. She resided there for the past 59 years.
Mary worshipped faithfully at St. Andrew’s Church in N. Billerica and loved playing Bingo.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne Moreau and her husband, Michael of Stratham, NH; her sons, James Stevens and his wife, Faith of Billerica and Kevin Stevens and his wife, Katelyn of Duxbury; her sister, Maureen Donovan of Quincy; her brother, Michael Drew and his wife Gloria of England; her grandchildren, Michelle, David, Derek, Ryan, Aidan, and Lila and her great grandson, John, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late James Cloghessy, Daniel Drew, Christine Bowen, and Helen McLane.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 to 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Andrew Church, Talbot Ave., N. Billerica at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.com. Interment will take place at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
