Mary B. Staffier, wife of the late Robert L. Staffier, died peacefully at home with her family at her side on Friday, April 14.
Daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Murphy) Barron on August 15, 1936, Mary grew up in East Boston before moving to Billerica to raise her family.
Mary was employed as a Human Resources Manager at Computervision for many years. She was an inspiring Catholic who demonstrated her faith by serving in Sodality and teaching CCD for twenty years. After surviving breast cancer, Mary devoted her time and energy to running support groups for individuals with cancer. Her deep faith and active lifestyle were an inspirational testament to life after cancer. She was also a frequent volunteer for Billerica’s Council on Aging. Mary loved to read, exercise, sing, play the piano, and dance with her husband Bob. She was a passionate Boston sports fan and especially enjoyed following the Patriots. Mary loved to travel, with Italy being her favorite destination.
Her true passion was spending time with her family, especially hosting weekly Sunday dinners. She was a devoted mother to her four children: Maureen Severo and husband Tom of Westford, Janet Hogan and husband Brian of Westford, Susan Mastrullo and husband Michael of Billerica, and Robert Staffier Jr. of Charlestown. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Tommy Severo, Stephen Severo and his wife Yuliya, Alessandra Mastrullo, Elaine (Severo) Trechok and her husband Jonathan, Michela Mastrullo, and her three great grandchildren: Jace Trechok, Lucy Severo, and Kaia Trechok. She was the beloved sister of Arlene Champoux, Thomas Barron, and Joan Connolly. Mary was predeceased by her siblings James, Jean and Jack Barron.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home (66 Concord Road, Billerica) from 4-7 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church (466 Boston Road, Billerica) at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen for a Cure, www.komen.org or Catholic Charities Boston, www.ccab.org Her burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, East Chelmsford.
