Obituary for Mary V. Thorne
Mary V. Thorne – Age 101, wife of the late Albert E. Thorne Jr. died Thursday at the D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell surrounded by her family.
She was born in Woburn, August 20, 1917, a daughter of the late Michael J. and Mary (McGilvrey) Costello and was a long time Billerica resident. She was a member of the VFW Solomon Post Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Thorne is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Gullage, her husband Don of Hillsboro, NH, Maryjean Martin of CA, Janice Olson of Tewksbury, Barbara Roberts of Lowell and Cheryl Bittner of Billerica; her sons, Albert Thorne, his wife Toshiko of CA, Ronald Thorne, his wife Patty of N. Andover, Kenneth Thorne, his wife Laura of Billerica, William Thorne, his wife MaryEllen of Merrimack, Richard Thorne of Billerica and David Thorne, his wife Donna of Chelmsford and her daughter-in-law, Diane Thorne of Chelmsford. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, one great great grandson and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother the late John Thorne, grandmother of the late Christopher Thorne and great grandmother of the late Michael Parker, Mother-in-law to the late Alexander Olson, Dana Morse, and Thomas Martin

A visitation will be held Monday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. A chapel service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, 96 Riverneck Rd., E. Chelmsford at 1:30 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to D’Youville Senior Care Activities Fund, 981 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854.
