Obituary for Mary R. Porter
Mary R. Porter, Age 86, wife of the late Arthur W. Porter died unexpectedly Friday at the Lahey Hospital in Burlington.
She was born in Cambridge, October 2, 1934, a daughter of the late Mario and Loretta (Jackson) DeFlorio and was raised in Watertown and moved to Arlington and then Billerica in 1961.
Mary was employed as a Registered Nurse at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge for over 50 years prior to her retirement. She was an active communicant of St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church having been a member of the Woman’s Club, the Choir and St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was also a member of the Billerica Garden Club.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Charlene McKivergan of Hudson, NH, Teresa Porter Cascadden of Amherst, NH and Maureen Porter of Wakefield; her sons, Gerard Porter of Norwood, Matthew Porter of S. Portland, ME and Christopher Porter of Tewksbury; her sisters, Loretta Murray of NH and Patricia Kelly of Medway and her 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was also excited for the impending birth of her third great grandchild.
Mary never missed the opportunity to send a card for any occasion, whether it be a birthday, wedding, anniversary or just to make someone’s day. If you would like to honor Mary send a card and put a smile on someone’s face.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
