Obituary for Mary H. Roake
Billerica – Mary H. Roake – Age 83, wife of the late James A. Roake died Sunday at the Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley in N. Billerica surrounded by her children.
She was born in Somerville, November 20, 1931, the daughter of the late John and Lavinia (Nicoll) Wilson and lived in Somerville before moving to Billerica in 1953.
Mrs. Roake enjoyed gardening and delighted in the vibrant flower colors. She also liked feeding the birds and watching the birds that came to the feeders, especially the cardinals. She loved the New Hampshire Lakes Region and camped there frequently. She enjoyed baking sweets for her children and grandchildren and loved telling them bedtime stories.
An animal lover, she rode horses and rode in a drill team that rode in area parades and raised collies and cats. She was a 4-H Leader, a Campfire Girl Leader and one of the founders of the Billerica Horsemen’s Association.
Mrs. Roake is survived by her daughters, Linda Hubley and her husband Skip of Southborough, Eileen Roake of Billerica and Carolyn Stepnitz and her husband Larry of Conowingo, MD; her son Stephen Roake and his wife Valerie of Chelmsford. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Sara Miller, Jennie DiFrancesco, Brian Stepnitz, Christina Crise, Matthew Stepnitz, Matthew Hubley and Tanya Hubley and four great grandchildren, Bella and Emma Miller and Timothy Stepnitz and Joshua Crise.

(Wilson) Roake, A Funeral Service will be held Thursday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
