Mark C. Mullaney, age 75, beloved husband of Joanne (Lacorazza) Mullaney died Sunday, May 11, at Salem Hospital after a period of declining health with his family by his side.
He was born in Malden. February 17, 1950 a son of the late Paul E. and Evelyn J. (Wright) Mullaney and lived in Malden before moving to Billerica in 1980 and most recently spending time in Salisbury, Barnstead, NH and Boynton Beach, FL.
Mark proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War as a Military Policeman and then went onto a 38 year career with the Malden Police Department and FBI Retiring as a Sargent Detective in 2012. A man of heroic strength with a quote to "never be a quitter." Always ready to poke a joke and brighten up a room. Mark was a man of few words, but when he spoke, everyone listened for his advice. He enjoyed spending time at the beach and the lake as well as wintering in Florida but most important to him was time spent with his family.
Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Mark Mullaney of Billerica; two daughters, Joann Mullaney Fonseca of Amesbury and Kerri Anne Campbell and her husband Matthew of Billerica; three brothers, Peter Mullaney (Cathy) of Falmouth, ME, Keith Mullaney (Linda) of Mount Dora, Kevin Mullaney (Grace) of Northport, FL; his brother in-law Daniel Lacorazza as well as his six beloved grandchildren, Samantha, Tucker, Leo, Domenic, Jianna and Jaxson.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, May 14, at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 – 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
