Obituary for Marita G. Finnegan
BILLERICA – Marita G. (Murphy) Finnegan, age 96, wife of the late Gerald “Jerry” M. Finnegan died Wednesday at Saints Medical Center in Lowell. She was born in Newton, February 14, 1915 a daughter of the late Eugene and Gertrude (Murphy) Murphy and lived in Newton prior to moving to Billerica 62 years ago. Mrs. Finnegan was an operator for the former New England Telephone for 34 years retiring in 1970. She was a member of St. Theresa’s Women’s Club and St. Theresa’s Sodality where she was Past Prefect, the Billerica Council on Aging, the Firefighters Wives Assn. and was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She is survived by one sister Rose Doherty of Billerica as well as many loved nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Edward and Charles Murphy. Funeral Monday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 8 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Theresa Church at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 2 – 5 p.m. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
