Marion R. Murray passed away peacefully at her home on April 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Marion was the daughter of the late Frank and Nora McNerney. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from St. Joseph’s College and later received her Master’s degree from Brooklyn College. She began her teaching career in New York before settling in Billerica, Massachusetts, where she continued her dedication to education at the Ditson Elementary School.
Marion was a woman of deep faith and service. A devoted member of St. Andrew Parish in North Billerica, she served as a lector for many years and, prior to her retirement, coordinated the Religious Education Program. She also taught religious education and was an active member of the Sodality. Her commitment to her community extended to the Billerica Public Library, where she served as a Library Trustee and as a longtime treasurer of the Family Friends of the Library.
Marion was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas J. Murray and survived by her seven children: Rosemarie DeLacy of Reading; Thomas Murray and his wife, Jennifer, of Norton; Anne Murray of Billerica; Andrew Murray and Martha Keller of Bedford; David Murray and his wife, Jenifer, of Woburn; Richard Murray and his wife, Christine, of Dunstable; and Maureen Murray of Woburn. She is survived by her siblings Andrew McNerney of NY and Kathleen Coady of GA and was predeceased by her siblings Nora Keenan, Anna Windels, Frank McNerney, Gloria McNerney, and Gerald McNerney.
Marion also leaves her beloved grandchildren: Richard (Katy), Andrew, and Thomas (Micaela) DeLacy; Meghan, Catherine, and Thomas Matthew Murray; Brendan and Bryan Murray; and Melody and Calvin Murray. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Adelyn, Ella, and Christopher DeLacy, and to Jolene and Jude DeLacy. She will be deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews, and all who knew and loved her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish, St. Andrew Church, 45 Talbot Avenue, North Billerica. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, April 19, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Road, Billerica 01821. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marion’s memory are welcome to St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish.
