
Marianne Pratt – Age 78, Beloved wife of Douglas E. Pratt Sr., for 57 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Cambridge on November 17, 1946, she was the cherished daughter of the late Gertrude (MacDonald) Walsh, and sister of Russell W. Dewitt. Marianne grew up in the Brighton-Allston area before settling in Billerica, where she made her home for the past 43 years.
Marianne devoted her life to her family, whom she loved deeply and for whom she lived. She had a fulfilling career at USCI Bard in Billerica and later served as a dedicated Supervisor at the House of Hope in Lowell, touching many lives through her work.
Marianne was a devoted lifetime member of St. Anthony’s Drum and Bugle Corps, where she forged cherished memories and lifelong friendships. She found joy in playing nickels with her friends, a pastime filled with laughter and camaraderie. Marianne also loved unwinding with her favorite TV show, Friends, and spent many delightful summers at Wyman’s Beach and in Maine.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Valerie Pratt of Billerica; her sons, Douglas Pratt Jr. and his wife Tracey of Billerica, and Derek Pratt and his wife Rosie of Billerica; her adoring grandchildren, Devonn, Hanah, Rylee, Laila, Dyllon, and Scarlett; as well as her many dear aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, April 19 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 1-4 p.m. A private burial will take place at the Fox Hill Cemetery in Billerica. Memorial contributions may be made in Marianne’s name to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org
