Obituary for Maria A. Gomes
BILLERICA – Maria A. (Estrela) Gomes, age 85, beloved wife of the late Orbelo A. Gomes died Thursday at Lowell General Hospital.
She was born in Terceira, Azores, Portugal a daughter of the late Manuel Jr. and Rosa (Augusta) Estrela and lived in Somerville before moving to Billerica 33 years ago.
Mrs. Gomes was an Inspector for Hewlett Packard and more recently Agilent Technologies.
She is survived by one son Jorge Gomes and his wife Lucia of Manchester; two daughters, Noelia Blandin of Lowell and Dianne Quinan of Dracut; two brothers, Agostinho and his wife Cremilda and Manuel Estrela; four sisters, Eva Carreiro , Fatima Martins and her husband Eduino, Julieta Pontes and Liz Welch; nine grandchildren, Monique, Danielle, and Christopher Anderson, Christine and Cody Blandin, Liam and Chloe Quinan, Alexandra Gomes, and Paulo Machado as well as 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Madalena Anderson.

Funeral Saturday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 8 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Mary’s Church, 796 Boston Rd., Billerica at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 5 – 7 p.m. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
