Obituary for Margaret 'Rita' Ford
PALM COAST, FL – Margaret “Rita” (Doherty)(Brennan) Ford, age 78, former wife of Joseph Brennan and wife of the late Joseph L. Ford, died Saturday at her home in Florida surrounded by her family. She was born in Medford, June 25, 1935, a daughter of the late Anthony, and Margaret (Doherty) Doherty and lived in Medford, Billerica and Maine before moving to Palm Coast, FL 16 years ago and was a graduate of the Howe high School in Billerica in 1953. Prior to her retirement Mrs. Ford worked at Raytheon for 17 years and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Palm Coast Elks Emblem Club. Rita enjoyed her years in Maine, snowmobiling, traveling, cruises and spending her retirement years in Florida. She is survived by two sons, Joseph Brennan of Beverly and Kevin Brennan of Palm Coast, FL; four daughters, Donna Richard and her husband Noah of Shapleigh, ME, Linda Hopkins and her husband Michael, Karen Howard and her husband Joseph and Colleen Shea and her husband Dan all of Billerica; three brothers, Bernard Doherty of Charlestown, Anthony Doherty of Salem, NH and John Doherty of CA as well as 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Mary Arlin. FORD – Of Palm Coast, FL, formerly of, Medford, Billerica and Maine, Feb.8, Margaret “Rita” (Doherty)(Brennan) Ford. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 – 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday in St. Theresa Church, Billerica at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300 • Rockville, MD 20852. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH will be held privately at the convenience of her family.
