
Obituary for Margaret M Smith
Margaret M (Joyce) Smith, age 94 beloved wife of the late Philip C. Smith died Friday at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading with her family by her side.
She was born in Chelsea, July 14, 1927 a daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (McAdams) Joyce and has been a Billerica resident for the past 87 years.
Margaret was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps. during WW II and was employed as a labor and delivery nurse for Lawrence Memorial Hospital and Winchester Hospital for many years.
In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Philip T. Smith and his wife Marie of Chelmsford. Two granddaughters, Holly M. Smith and Christine E. (Smith) Doody and her husband Colby as well as her great-grandsons, Carter and Colton Doody. She was the mother of the late Kathleen Smith and sister of the late Thomas Joyce.
Funeral Tuesday from the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 9 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4 – 6 p.m. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. www.stjude.org
