Obituary for Margaret A. McCartney
Margaret A. McCartney (Brown) was called to her heavenly home on March 19th, 2022, in her 100th year. Margaret was pre-deceased by her husband, Thomas A. McCartney Sr, parents Henry and Emma Brown, and siblings Hank, Urb, Frank, Julia (Boretti), and Mary (Ratcliffe).
She is survived by her beloved children, Thomas McCartney, Jr and his wife Lynne of Burlington, Kathy Walsh and her husband Kenny of Tewksbury, Mac McCartney and his partner Cathie Bowen of Billerica, Laurie Poirier and her husband Steve of The Villages, FL, and Alyson McCartney and her wife Glenda Cameron of Billerica. Loving Grammy of Tommy, Traci, Chrissy, Wendy, Kerri, Noelle and Nick, and Great Grammy of Maddy, Jaxon, Oscar, Simon, Alex, Ty, Kaely, MacKenzie, Mia, Autumn and Addison. She also leaves her faithful companion Toby who was always by her side.
Margaret was born in South Boston on August 27, 1921. She spent most of her life raising her family in Medford and lived out her remaining years in Burlington. Margaret was known for her talents including her beautiful paintings and pastels, her decorating skills and a wide variety of crafts. And it’s no secret that she also enjoyed a good martini or two! Margaret will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Family and friends may gather for visitation at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Road in Billerica MA on Friday, March 25th, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Margaret’s memory to Guiding Eyes for the Blind (guidingeyes.org) or the Northeast Animal Shelter (347 Highland Ave, Salem MA 01970).
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Matthew’s Church (formerly St. Theresa’s church) at 466 Boston Rd in Billerica on Saturday, March 26th, 2022 at 10:00am. Please go directly to the Church.
Interment will be private.
