M. Carol Mahoney, age 80, beloved wife of David A. Mahoney passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025.
She was born on December 18, 1944, in Baltimore County, Maryland before moving to Billerica, then Tewksbury and most recently back to Billerica. Carol was the beloved daughter of the late Ferdinand Reuwer and Catherine Ernie. Carol is survived by her two sisters, Sharon Reuwer and Angela Reuwer.
Carol was married to her devoted husband, David Mahoney for 57 happy years filled with laughs and lots of ice cream. Together they raised two daughters, Trisha and Chrisie. She was a loving and cherished grandmother to her five blessings: Ashley “Lally”, Kayla, Erica, Nicole, and Nadia, who lovingly called her "Mammie.". Carol adored her granddaughters and treasured the special moments they shared, particularly epic easter egg hunts and adventures at Story Land, her family was her constant pride and joy.
She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, making up songs for each granddaughter, dancing, and caring for animals of all kinds. Carol’s nurturing spirit extended to everyone she met, and she touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity.
Carol’s family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at a wake on Sunday, March 30 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 1-4 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m.. Her memory will be forever cherished, and may her life of love and compassion bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
