Lucille Shirley Lydon (Auciello), 84 passed away on 4/9/26 after being surrounded by the family she loved. She is finally at peace after battling declining health with impressive strength and courage for many years. Her family is deeply saddened by her loss and she will be sorely missed.
She was born on March 4, 1942, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to Phillip and Rose (Maguilo) Auciello. Lucille was raised in Somerville and later moved to Billerica as a teenager, where she immediately caught the eye of a handsome well known boxer/athlete, Leo Lydon who became her first husband. They had three daughters: Rose, Lucille and Linda. Later in life, she found love again with a handsome Marine/Bricklayer, Thomas Deshler. Lucille and Thomas shared many happy years together in Billerica before marrying in the 1990’s.
Lucille’s greatest joy was spending time with those she loved. The beach was her happy place, and she especially cherished winter months in Florida and summer months at Old Orchard Beach where she and Tommy made numerous lifelong friends. She loved the beach so much she was thought to be a Hawaiian native during her vacation. She was known for her glamorous presence and her beautiful long black hair, which was admired by many even during her last days. She was a fierce protector, loyal confidant and deeply devoted to the ones she loved. Those that were closest to her were loved unconditionally, often putting their needs before her own.
Her home was a place of comfort, where she was a great cook who loved feeding everyone-whether it was her favorite Italian dishes, Chinese food from her beloved restaurants, or anything else that brought people together. Nobody could eat hot sauce like her. She enjoyed decorating her home with beautiful plants she meticulously cared for. She also enjoyed sewing, had a beloved dog named Chi Chi, loved shopping, feeding the chipmunks and birds, her Cadillac, giving gifts, partying, dancing and having a good time. Two causes close to her heart were the Wounded Warrior Project and Animal Rescue, which she supported faithfully.
Lucille is survived by her loving daughters, Rose Russell, Linda Lessard and Lucille Spear; her sister Phyllis Toppi and many cherished grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, laughter, fancy style/accessories and the deep love she had for her family.
