Obituary for Louis J. McIntyre Jr.
Louis Joseph McIntyre, Jr. (a.k.a “Butch” and “Luke”), passed away at Lowell General Hospital on Saturday, January 22, 2022; he was 81 years old. A longtime resident of Billerica and beloved husband of the late Sylvia (Mardirossian) McIntyre whom passed away in 2014, and more recently Leonida (Tababan) McIntyre.
Born in Andover, Massachusetts on July 16, 1940, Joe was the beloved son of the late Louis and Helen McIntyre of Andover and brother of the late Gail, Richard, and Rosemary McIntyre. Joe grew up in Andover and attended Punchard High School. He was a US Navy Veteran who served from 1959 to 1961. Joe was formerly employed locally with Sweetheart Plastics as a maintenance mechanic and enjoyed travelling for the company. Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman; he was a member of Billerica Rod & Gun club for many years and often hunted near his second home “The Mac Shack” located in Victory, VT. In his later years, Joe enjoyed traveling to Alabama with Sylvia in their camper and staying busy caring for his home.
Besides his beloved wife, Leonida, Joe is survived by his nephew Alan J McIntyre and his wife Kristina Focareto, his great-niece Isabella McIntyre, and two great-nephews Ryan and Nicholas McIntyre, all of Goffstown NH. He is also survived by several extended family members from Sylvia’s side.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 25 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex St., Andover at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Watertown alongside Sylvia. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, it has been decided that a mercy meal will not take place.
