Lorraine M. (McCarthy) O’Keefe, age 81, beloved wife of the late Francis D. O’Keefe died unexpectedly Friday March 8th at South Shore Hospital.
She was born in Berlin, NH, March 19, 1942 a daughter of the late George and Gilberte (Cote) McCarthy and lived in Berlin, NH before moving to Charlestown then to Billerica from 1971 – 2020 and most recently to Hanson, MA.
Lorraine worked as a registered nurse for many years and then as the receptionist for a Boston law firm for many more.
She is survived by one son, Christopher O’Keefe and his wife Elisa of Hanson; one daughter, Kathleen Rizza and her husband Thomas of Fulshear, TX; her three beloved grandchildren, Ashleigh Rose O’Keefe, and Matthew and Olivia Rizza; brother George McCarthy and his wife Maureen of Saugus; three sisters, Eileen Beals of NH, Susan DeLeo of ME and Linda McCarthy of Winchester. She was the sister of the late Richard McCarthy of Billerica and the late Joanne O’Keefe of Chelmsford. She was the cherished sister-in-law and life-long friend of Carol McCarthy of Billerica and beloved sister-in-law of Mary Ellen Sayles of FL, Robert O’Keefe of Westborough, and the late Joseph O’Keefe, Lawrence DeLeo, Timothy O’Keefe, John O’Keefe, Jane Sims, and Aileen Iverson.
She was the beloved Auntie Lorraine of many, many nieces and nephews, and a cherished friend, colleague, and neighbor to so many others over the years.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 – 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd. Billerica at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assn. at www.alz.org
