Lorraine B. Mezzanotte – Age 78, beloved wife of Edward Mezzanotte, passed peacefully at their home after a long difficult battle with Alzheimer’s Disease with her husband of 57 years by her side.
She was born in Waterbury, CT, July 10, 1946, a daughter of the late Valmore and Dorothy (Cote) Bernier and was raised in Connecticut and graduated from Croft High School in Waterbury CT and Middlesex College in Bedford MA as a Registered Nurse.
Lorraine moved to Carlisle in 1982 and later moved to Westford in 2009.
She worked in several patient care capacities at Emerson Hospital in Concord Mass including phlebotomist, hospice aid, critical care nurse comforting aids patients during the early outbreak of AIDS, oncology nurse administering chemotherapy, and culminating her long career at Emerson with over 500 hours of volunteer service.
Lorraine enjoyed gardening and had the magic-touch when it came to making beautiful gardens grow. She was a member of the Westford Garden club and hosted the clubs annual meeting in her beautiful gardens at her home in Westford.
Lorraine was an exceptional cook and for three years taught cooking classes in her home specializing in how to prepare quick and easy recipes. She knew how to make a kitchen smell wonderful and taste even better.
She enjoyed playing Mahjong regularly with a group of friends, long neighborhood walks, and spending time with her family at her Lake Winnipesaukee home. She knew the inside of every consignment shop in the area and could never pass up a good deal.
Besides her husband, Lorraine is survived by her sons, Todd Mezzanotte of Westford and Mark Mezzanotte and his wife Krista of Belmont; her beloved grandchildren, Lea Mezzanotte of Westford and Luca and Vince Mezzanotte of Belmont; her sister, Janet Thomas of Wimauma, FL and many nieces and nephews and a long list close friends.
Funeral arrangements will be private, donations can be made in her name to Hospice services of Massachusetts, 681 Main Street, Haverhill MA 01830.
