Obituary for Leonard "Lenny" Annese
BILLERICA – Leonard “Lenny” Annese, age 71, beloved husband of Ruth H. (Brewer) Annese died Tuesday at their home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Astoria, NY, January 7, 1944 a son of the late Rocco and Elizabeth (Sarrantonio) Annese and lived in Somerville before moving to Billerica in 1969.
Mr. Annese served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a Project Manager for Phoenix Mechanical Contracting before retiring in 2009.
He was a member of the Billerica Sons of Italy, a member of the Billerica Knights of Columbus for over 40 years where he was a past Grand Knight in 2008-2009, Knight of the Year in 2006 and 2014, co-chaired the Prom for Special Needs kids and adults with other area councils since its inception in 2009 and he chaired the street campaign for the Council’s annual Tootsie Roll Drive helping to raise of a quarter-million dollars over the years. .
Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Marc Annese of Billerica; one daughter, Laura Jenkins and her husband Joel of Billerica; one brother Raymond Annese and his wife Judie of Greensboro, NC; one sister Mary Gehm of Queens Village, NY as well as his grandchildren, Hailee and Hunter Jenkins and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Vincent Annese.

Funeral Saturday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Theresa Church, Billerica at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4 – 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, Dept. of Hematology, Radiation, Oncology and Cancer Research, 41 Mall Rd., Burlington, MA 01805 or to the Wounded Warriors Project, 150 Cambridge Park Drive, Suite 202 Cambridge, MA 02140 Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
