Obituary for Leo F. Flavin Sr.
Leo F. Flavin Sr. – Age 78, beloved husband of Dorothy M. (McDonough) Flavin died unexpectedly Monday at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. He was born in Lowell, December 2, 1934, the son of the late Daniel and Ethel (Newman) Flavin and was a life long resident of Billerica. Mr. Flavin graduated from Howe High School in Billerica where he played baseball and continued to play while serving in the Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed playing hockey and played for many years and was an avid Notre Dame Football fan. He was a member of the Billerica Knights of Columbus and was a 4th degree St. Pius. He also enjoyed landscaping and was awarded the Best Kept Property in Billerica Award. Mr. Flavin was employed as a Fire Fighter for the Billerica Fire Department from 1961 to 1993 and also worked for many area paving companies during and after his retirement. Besides his wife, Mr. Flavin is survived by his son, Leo Flavin Jr. of Billerica; his sister-in-law, Donna Flavin of FL and nephew, Rev. James Flavin Jr. of PA. He was the brother of the late James A. Flavin Sr., Paul Flavin and Daniel Flavin. FLAVIN – Of Billerica, unexpectedly, Jan. 28, Leo F. Flavin Sr., Funeral Friday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 3-6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
