Obituary for Lenwood W. McRae
Billerica – Lenwood W. “Gramps” McRae – Age 88, husband of the late Annette W. (Walton) McRae died Thursday at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Trenton, NJ, February 24, 1926, the son of the late Clarnton and Spina (Townsend) McRae and lived in Burlington before moving to Billerica in 1974. Mr. McRae served in the Air Force for 30 years and served in WW II, Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force, he served as the Burlington Highway Superintendent and after 22 years retired in 1992. He is survived by his daughters, Rosalind Ferguson and her husband Mose of Shirley and Velda McRae-Yates and her husband Michael of Billerica; his sons, Joseph Vincent of Mississippi, Thomas Long of Woburn and Eric Ward of Haverhill; his devoted friend, Enid Jackson; his grandchildren, Thomas Bell and his wife Tiffany, Tenora Callahan and her late husband Joseph Callahan Sr., Tanya Christopher and her husband Gregg and Valerie and Teresa Ferguson; his great grandchildren, Marcus, Xavier, Elliana, Sayuri and Naelani Bell, Ty, Lanecya, Joseph Jr., and John Callahan, Brianna, Aaron and Naomi Christopher. He also survived by many nieces and nephews and was a foster father and grandfather to many. McRae – Of Billerica, April 24, Lenwood W. “Gramps” McRae, Visiting hours will be held Monday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or the Wounded Warrior Project, 150 Cambridge Park Dr., Cambridge, MA 02140. Burial in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
