Obituary for Laurence "Duke" M. Libby Sr.
BILLERICA – Laurence “Duke” M. Libby Sr., age 79, devoted husband of 50 years to the late Margaret M. (Hourihan) Libby died peacefully Tuesday at his home.
He was born in Somerville, March 4, 1936 a son of the late George and Irene (Yeo) Libby and lived in Somerville prior to moving to Billerica in 1961.
Mr. Libby retired from Teamsters Local 25, was the co-owner of Billerica Taxi and later worked at Carleton-Willard Village in Bedford.
He was a member of the Billerica Lodge of Elks #2071, life membership #531 for 51 years, a friend of Bill W. for 44 years and enjoyed spending his summers in Barnstead, NH, on the lake with his extended family.
He is survived by two sons, Larry Jr. and his wife Sandra of Billerica and Timothy and his wife Debra of Stoneham; two daughters, Laureen Goguen and her husband Brian and Lois Libby-Fitzpatrick-Nagle all of Billerica; two sisters, Dorothy Reardon and family of Billerica and Irene Burdulis and family of Somerville; 10 grandchildren, Ryan Libby and his wife Marissa, Megan and Pamela Libby, Courtney Finn and her husband Matthew, Adam Goguen, Thomas Fitzpatrick IV and his fiancée Jacqulyn Sardina, Jonathan and Christopher Fitzpatrick, , Hailey and Kasey Libby; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Jacob Finn as well as his former son-in-law, Thomas Fitzpatrick III. He was the brother of the late George Jr. and Edward Libby, and William, Walter and John Naughton, and father-in-law of the late Kathleen (Hanley) Libby.
LIBBY – Of Billerica, formerly of Somerville, Nov. 17, Laurence “Duke” M. Libby Sr. Visiting hours will be held Saturday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 – 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 – 5 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday at St. Mary’s Church, 796 Boston Rd. Billerica at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Billerica Boys and Girls Club, 19 Campbell Rd., Billerica, MA 01821.
