Loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
BILLERICA – June A. Burke., age 82, beloved wife of the late James P.F. Burke Jr., passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family, after a brief battle with cancer on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.
She was born in Revere, November 25, 1937, the daughter of the late George P. and May (Elwell) Holding. June was the middle of nine children. She lived in Revere before moving to Billerica in 1973.
June (Jitterbugs/Junebug), may have only been 4’ 9 ¾ ”, but she was full of fire, and had so much love to offer. She was an acrobatic dancer for much of her younger years before working as a secretary where she met James. She married James P.F. Burke Jr., on January 26, 1957.
After having their four children they moved from Oak Island, Revere to Billerica in 1973.
Upon moving she worked as a claim adjuster for Sentry Insurance in Concord for 36 years before retiring.
June enjoyed her daily routine, of heading to Wendy’s to have a small cup of coffee while scratching a few scratch tickets, and making sure to never miss a Red Sox game!
After the passing of her husband James in 2014, she moved into Brightview Senior living in Billerica, MA. There she enjoyed playing Bingo, as well as going on many community outings, and making countless friends. But, most of all she loved spending time with her family laughing and going on shopping trips.
June is survived by four children, James P. Burke III and his wife, Rena of Pelham, NH, Richard Burke and his wife, Maureen of Billerica, Colleen Coleman and her husband, James of Easton, and Steven Burke and his wife, Lynne of Westford; two siblings, Carol Watson of Revere and Chris Holding of Montana; as well as eight grandchildren Chris and wife Dara, Michelle, Paul and wife Kristina, Alicia, Courtney, James Jr., Ian and Andrew; and four great-grandchildren Annaliese, Addison, Krystalina, with one on the way.

Burke, Funeral Monday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. A Funeral Service will be held in St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Billerica at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
