Obituary for Joseph Salvato
BILLERICA –Joseph Salvato, age 84, the beloved husband of the late Maria (Demetre) Salvato died Thursday at Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington after a period of declining health. He was born in Boston, July 20, 1928 the son of the late Mary (Moschitto) Salvato, grew up in the West End and lived in Medford for eleven years before marrying Maria and moving to Billerica in July of 1973. Joe served in the Army during WW II and worked at RCA for over 30 years as an Electronics Technician. He loved camping, fishing, boating and bowling as well as watching all his favorite Boston area teams whenever they were on television. Joe was an avid golfer and long time member of the Country Club of Billerica where he was a former Senior Club Champion and a member of the coveted Hole-in-One Club. He is survived by one son, Louis Demetre and his wife Claire of CA; two daughters, Lynne Maria Norton (Demetre) of GA and Joanne Sophia Cook and her husband LaRue Keith Cook Jr. of Nashua; one sister, Toni Castro and her husband Manny of Chelmsford; six grandchildren, Margeaux, Briana, Nicholas, Natalie Joy, Jonathan and Chelsea; ten great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews who will dearly miss their Uncle Joe. He was pre-deceased by his late brothers Leo, Carmine and Salvatore Salvato, and his late sisters Marie Capachietti and Jennie Micale. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday in the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held from 9 a.m. – 11 prior to the service. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe’s name to Lahey Clinic Philanthropy Dept. / Oncology Fund, 41 Mall Road, Burlington, MA 01805.
